Residents of the Country Club Neighborhood are friendly and social. No matter what time of year it is, you will find many opportunities to connect with your neighbors.
Pockets throughout the neighborhood host annual holiday events, engaging young and old alike in making memories to last a lifetime. Information on these events can be found in the Chronicle, on our Facebook page, on our Events Calendar, and oftentimes through a flyer in your door if you are in the area. A few highlights:
- The annual May Day Party at Pocras Park
- The annual 31st Street Block Party to celebrate the Fourth of July
- The annual Fourth of July Parade and Party on Woodsdale Boulevard
- The annual Easter Egg Roll on Sheridan Boulevard
- “Brews and Stews,” the annual Halloween event before trick or treating on Woodsdale Boulevard
Watching the Lincoln Marathon and Half-Marathon
Each year on the first Sunday in May, our neighborhood welcomes runners in the Lincoln Marathon and Half-Marathon from mile 3 to mile 4! The course begins in our neighborhood at South Street and Sheridan Boulevard, and exits the neighborhood at 33rd Street and Sheridan Boulevard. You’ll find neighbors lining up early with lawn chairs, coffee, signs of support, and musical instruments to cheer on these athletes.
Annual Garage Sale
The Association is proud to host an Annual Garage Sale Day in the neighborhood. Participation is free to residents. When you sign up, your address is included on the Flyer for the day and all advertising. More than 60 households participated in the 2016 CCNA Garage Sales on Saturday, May 7.
Pop-Up Events at area businesses
Our neighborhood is lucky to have many locally-owned neighborhood businesses. From time to time, the Association will host a Pop-Up Social Event at one of our neighborhood spots to encourage neighbors to visit and support these businesses. Information about the next Pop-Up will be posted in the Chronicle, on our Facebook page, and on our Events Calendar.
New Resident Welcome Packets
Each year, our neighborhood welcomes many new residents to our streets. After move-in day is complete, CCNA delivers a Welcome Packet to the homeowner with information about the Association, the neighborhood, local businesses, and more. Want to help with the monthly delivery of these packets or have information you think should be included? Contact Welcome Packet Chair Krista Rickman.
Neighborhood resident and CCNA Borad Member Mary Monahan leads the charge for a wide variety of neighborhood family events on behalf of the CCNA. Our first annual May Day Party was hosted in 2016. Watch for news about our summer swimming party for neighbors at the Irvingdale Pool. We also have historically sponsored a Neighborhood Night at Saltdogs Baseball. As dates are finalized for these events, the website event calendar will be updated. If you have any idea of a family event you'd like to help organize, please contact us and we can get you in touch with Mary!
